Cam's Sacking Childhood Hunger Program
For lots of kids the weekend is a welcome break from the classroom. For others, it’s also a break from guaranteed meals. That’s because one in five children in the United States faces food insecurity. Three out of every five teachers say that they have students who regularly come to school hungry.
Not having enough to eat can affect a child’s emotional, social, and academic wellbeing. Students who are consistently hungry report physical health issues, poor academic performance, shorter attention span, and more.
Cam’s Sacking Childhood Hunger program wants to make sure that no child goes hungry. Working with The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Edgar Snyder & Associates, we will provide backpacks full of nutritious food for students to take home over the weekend during the school year.
